JOY

At a meeting a few nights ago, our Stake president, President Lyman, concluded the meeting with the statement, "There is great joy in service. Joy is not found in doing less, but in doing more."

The meeting had involved presentations pertaining to the employment resources offered by the Church, the missionary work within our wards, and the care and maintenance of our ward building houses. Each presentation touched upon the "joy" found in the presented program; i.e., the "joy" when someone finds badly needed employment; the joy when someone accepts the true gospel of Jesus Christ; the enjoyment found in a well-kept, well-maintained facility.

As I left the meeting I found myself thinking that there truly is joy in the gospel. It doesn't matter if you help someone find a job or if you scrub a toilet at the meeting house, you can find joy in the experience. The Lord has promised us great joy if we serve Him. "But if they reject not my words, which shall be established by the testimony which shall be given, blessed are they, and then shall ye have joy in the fruit of your labors." (D&C 6:31)

May we all find joy in our various church services.
