WHAT WE HAVE

Several days ago I received an email from a missionary friend we had while serving our mission at Martin's Cove. The email was about a theology professor who had been searching for the truth in religion for 76 years. She held three PHD's and had taught theology many years and was well known in the region where she lived. Through the efforts of two young Mormon missionaries, the professor joined the LDS Church. Before entering the waters of baptism, the professor made the statement, "I don't think you members know what you have."

The professor's favorite scripture was John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." After being baptized, the professor made a presentation in which she outlined the apostasy of the church of Christ after His death. Then, using the Doctrine and Covenants, she outlined the reorganization and restoration of Christ's true church on earth today. She doctrinally put the truth back in place, point by point, principle by principle. The last line of the email said, "The truth is what can set us free. . .do we really know what we have?" Do we???
