The Relief Society lesson on Sunday, March 14th was from the Gospel Principles Manual and it was taught by Sister Ali Threet. Ali always brings a great spirit to her lesson and delivers her lesson message interestingly and enthusiastically. The lesson title was "THE CREATION".
Ali's first question to the class was, "Why did we need to come to earth?" She told how, as spirit children, we knew of Heavenly Father's plan. We were excited and eager to have new experiences, we were excited to gain our mortal bodies (which we needed to do in order to become like God), and we shouted for joy as He told us what would happen.
In order for us to leave Heavenly Father's presence we needed a place to go. He, through His son, Jesus Christ, created this earth for us to come to. Earth is one of many worlds created by our Heavenly Father through his Son, Jesus Christ. It was not done in a haphazard way. The earth and everything in it had to be created spiritually before is was created physically. Then, with the aid of a talk by Jeffrey R. Holland, Ali discussed the order in which the world was created; man, being the last and greatest of all of God's creations. That is when our spirits were given a body and we had a place to dwell.
Ali pointed out that our bodies were created in the image of our Heavenly Father. Then, he gave us the ability to make our own choices. His love for us is so great. He gave us a place where we can grow and He provided for all of our needs. In D&C 59:18-19 we are told, "Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart; yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul."
