The Lord's Covenant People (Gospel Principles Ch. 15)

Our Relief Society Lesson was taught by Sister Tamrah Roberts from the Gospel Principles book Chapter 15. Tamrah started the lesson by asking. What is a covenant? It was answered a promise. Then asked; why are latter day saints called a covenant people? The answer was because we make covenants to God.
With in the gospel, a covenant means a sacred agreement or mutual promise between God and a person or group of people. In making a covenant, God promises a blessing for obedience to particular commandments. If we choose to obey the terms of the covenant, we receive promised blessings.
For example, when we join the church we make several covenants with God. We covenant with the savor at baptism to take upon ourselves his name. He promises: D&C 18: 22 And as many as repent and are baptized in my name, which is Jesus Christ, and endure to the end, the same shall be saved.
When we receive temple ordinances, we make other sacred covenants and are promised exaltation for faithful obedience.D&C 132: 7-8: 7 And verily I say unto you, that the conditions of this law are these: All covenants, contracts, bonds, obligations, oaths, vows, performances, connections, associations, or expectations, that are not made and entered into and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, of him who is anointed, both as well for time and for all eternity, and that too most holy, by revelation and commandment through the medium of mine anointed, whom I have appointed on the earth to hold this power (and I have appointed unto my servant Joseph to hold this power in the last days, and there is never but one on the earth at a time on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred), are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection from the dead; for all contracts that are not made unto this end have an end when men are dead.
  8 Behold, mine house is a house of order, saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion.
Think about the covenants you have made with God and the blessings He has promised you for keeping these covenants.
Tifnee Saunders stated that she loves to read her patriarchal blessing because she knows that if she keeps those covenants that are in her blessing. He will keep his promises.
How do the commandments and promises in the Abrahamic covenant apply to us? Char Taylor said we are proof of the Lords promise because we are his Abrahams descendants.
As the Lord’s covenant people, we should keep h is commandments. The Lord said, “I , the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but if ye do not what I say, ye have no promise” D&C 82:10 If we reject our covenant after accepting the gospel, the covenant becomes void and we will sand condemned before God.
Tifnee Saunders stated that follows her Aunt’s doing by writing down all of the covenants she has made in her lifetime and keeps them in her scriptures and reviews them every Sunday during sacrament to help her remember. She said that she finds one that she can work on for the week and so on.
When we accept the new and everlasting covenant, we agree to repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, receive our endowments, receive the covenant of marriage in the temple, and follow and obey Christ to the end of our lives. As we keep our covenants, our Heavenly Father promises us that we will receive exaltation in the celestial kingdom,
